LAHORE:

United States Consul General in Lahore Kristen Hawkins met Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi on Wednesday to discuss the province's internal security framework and explore avenues of cooperation, particularly in law enforcement and public safety.

"We will continue exploring new opportunities to work together for the shared goal of ensuring peace and security," she said on the occasion.

"We are securing Punjab through advanced technology and institutional reforms," said Dr Qazi while briefing the diplomat. He highlighted the provision of modern equipment to law enforcement agencies and the digitisation of criminal databases to enhance efficiency and accountability.

He disclosed that bomb disposal units under civil defence have been equipped with robots, while police operations in the Katcha areas have been strengthened with the use of payload drones and quadcopters.

Additionally, 14 high-tech check-points are under construction to improve inter-provincial border security.
