Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defence Yasir Güler arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for an official visit to Pakistan.
The Turkish delegation was received by Additional Secretary for West Asia, Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani, upon arrival.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to discuss key bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the defence industry.
The Express Tribune reported yesterday that Turkey’s foreign and defence ministers will visit Islamabad for talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Turkey has maintained strong ties with Pakistan and had expressed support for Islamabad during its military conflict with India in May, a stance that drew criticism from New Delhi.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will express Turkey's desire to deepen ties in every field and offer Ankara's support in taking steps toward regional peace, the source said. Fidan will stress the countries "need to strengthen their cooperation in the defence industry," the source said.
