Man's nose, lips cut off to avenge son's love marriage

Police have registered a case against eight accused and arrested the main suspect on charges of cutting off the nose and lips of an old man to avenge the love marriage his son had contracted with a woman.

A police spokesman said on Tuesday that Khuda Bakhsh's son Akhtar had contracted love marriage with a woman after getting her divorced from her husband.

This infuriated the former in-laws of the woman, who attacked Khuda Bakhsh, tortured him severely and cut of his lips and nose by a sharp-edged weapon.

The injured was referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan in critical condition. DPO Muzaffargarh took serious notice of the crime and triggered police action.
