Twitch streamer Nmplol, whose real name is Nick Polom, has come under criticism after making remarks about the recent Texas floods that have killed more than 100 people, including children.

The streamer, who has over 1.2 million followers, responded to reports that many of those who died were children by saying they “don’t have much left for them anyways, it’s okay.”

In a video posted on social media, someone can be heard saying, “they had their whole lives ahead of them,” to which Polom replied, “Their whole lives? When they're older every job is gonna be AI, everything they learn is on ChatGPT, there is no future.”

After the video circulated, Polom attempted to retract his remarks, posting on X, “Sorry guys joke went too far. I wasn’t fully aware of the situation. It’s tragic what’s happened. I’ll be more mindful going forward. Hope everyone stays safe and dry in Texas.”
