Opposition MPA accuses Malik of bias

MPA Khyal Ahmad Kastro expressed concern over what he described as "systematic injustices"

LAHORE:

An opposition member of the Punjab Assembly has written a scathing letter to Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, accusing him of failing to ensure impartiality and discipline during the recent budget session, and of overlooking repeated misconduct by members of the treasury benches.

MPA Khyal Ahmad Kastro expressed concern over what he described as "systematic injustices" toward opposition legislators and a "cruel attitude" by the ruling party during assembly proceedings.

He claimed that opposition members were denied their democratic right to speak freely, and protests - a legitimate form of expression in parliamentary systems - were met with abuse, disorder, and harassment from government members.

"During the leader of the opposition's speech, members of the ruling party approached the speaker's dais, hurled obscene slogans, and attempted to physically disrupt opposition lawmakers," the letter alleges.
