Brad Pitt is demanding that Angelina Jolie sit for a sworn deposition in their escalating legal dispute over the Château Miraval winery in France.
Court filings from this week reveal that Pitt’s legal team is seeking to compel Jolie’s company, Nouvel LLC, to provide testimony regarding her 2021 sale of her stake in the vineyard to Stoli Group.
Pitt alleges Jolie was secretly negotiating with Stoli while appearing to coordinate with him through Nouvel. He claims Jolie’s team provided detailed feedback to Stoli’s negotiators to secure a private $65 million deal, without giving him the chance to match the offer. The sale, he says, violated their agreement and was kept hidden until completed.
According to court documents as revealed by The US Sun, Nouvel opposed the deposition request, calling it “overbroad” and “unduly burdensome.” Pitt argues that Nouvel is effectively Jolie’s “alter ego,” used to sidestep transfer restrictions.
The case has expanded to include Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli, with Pitt seeking testimony on their investment and involvement. In a parallel Luxembourg case, a judge has placed a disputed 10% share in escrow, pending resolution of Pitt’s claim that Jolie never paid for the transfer.
The pair purchased Château Miraval in 2011 for $60 million. Now estimated at $500 million, the estate includes a 35-room manor and vineyard. Pitt insists he led its success and intended to pass it on to their children. Jolie’s company later filed a $250 million countersuit, alleging misuse of assets, which Pitt has denied.
Angelina Jolie has not yet responded to Pitt’s recent legal motion.
