Man tortured to death over marriage of choice
A young man who had married for love was tortured and murdered in Asgharabad.
Police took the body into custody, transferred it to a hospital, and launched investigations.
According to sources, in the area of 61-JB Asgharabad, under the jurisdiction of Sandal Bar Police Station, Sarfraz Mukhtar, the brother of Constable Sajjad Haider had married a girl from the Changar community of his own choice.
Due to the grudge over the marriage, the suspects, Zafar Lohar, Akhtar Lohar, Akbar Lohar, Haider Lohar, Anwar, Faqir Hussain, and others allegedly abducted Sarfraz from his residence, took him to an unknown location, subjected him to severe torture, and murdered him.
They later dumped his body outside his home.
Police took the body into custody, got conducted a post-mortem, and handed it over to the family.
A case has been registered against the nominated suspects under charges of kidnapping and murder, and a search operation is under way to apprehend them.
Meanwhile, unidentified assailants opened fire on a man, seriously injuring him.
He was shifted to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for some time.
Upon receiving the report,the SHO of the Peoples Colony Police Station, Inspector Rana Maghfoor Ahmad Khan, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ali, and other officers reached the scene, took the body into custody, transferred it to the hospital, and began efforts to trace the victim's family.
