In a forward-looking move to modernize infrastructure oversight, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting to assess the potential of using artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor road conditions across the province, particularly in remote and hard-to-access regions.

The meeting, held at the Department of Communication and Works, brought together key officials to discuss how AI can enhance transparency and efficiency in evaluating the quality of road infrastructure. Officials presented a briefing on a proposed smart monitoring system capable of real-time digital assessment, allowing authorities to detect road deterioration early and respond with timely maintenance.

Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Development Zahid Saleem, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, government spokesperson Shahid Rind, IT Secretary Ayaz Khan Mandokhail, and Communication Secretary Lal Jan Jaffar were among those in attendance.

Chief Minister acknowledged the persistent challenges in maintaining road networks, especially in distant areas where poor connectivity affects daily life and economic activity.

He noted that traditional supervision methods are inadequate in today's fast-paced environment and stressed the need for integrating digital technologies to bridge oversight gaps.
