Hollywood remembers Julian McMahon: Tributes pour in for ‘charismatic, kind’ star

Following the death of 'Nip/Tuck' and 'Charmed' actor Julian McMahon, co-stars and peers reflect on his legacy.

As news of Julian McMahon’s death at 56 continues to ripple through the entertainment world, the actor’s colleagues and co-stars are sharing heartfelt tributes that highlight the impact he had - both on and off screen.

Nicolas Cage, who starred alongside McMahon in their upcoming psychological thriller The Surfer, said in a statement: “I spent six weeks working with Julian, and he was the most talented of actors. Our scenes together were some of my all-time favorites. He was a kind and intelligent man.”

McMahon’s longtime Nip/Tuck co-star Dylan Walsh reflected on their years together: “We rode this wave together and I loved him. All those years you had my back, and my God, we laughed. Rest in peace, Jules.”

Kelly Carlson, who played McMahon’s on-again-off-again love interest on Nip/Tuck, expressed her shock at the news: “He was the energy, the charisma, and the humor of Nip/Tuck. He played my husband for years and he was also my friend. I’m grateful for the memories we made.”

From the Charmed family, co-stars shared messages of love and grief. Rose McGowan posted: “Oh Julian, you force of brilliance, wild talent and humor. I pray comfort for your family and fans.” Holly Marie Combs added, “Your unyielding zest for life and crazy-making sense of humor will be sorely missed.”

Ioan Gruffudd, who portrayed Mr. Fantastic opposite McMahon’s Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four, also paid tribute: “Even though we played nemeses, there was always so much laughter. It was an honor to act beside him.”

Michael Chiklis called him ‘a friend’ and wrote, “Life is so precious and fragile. My condolences to his family. RIP Jules.”

Despite his roles as villains and complex antiheroes, the man behind the characters was universally remembered for his warmth, wit, and generosity. “He loved his fans, his work, and lived life with joy,” his wife Kelly shared.

The outpouring of love underscores McMahon’s enduring influence - not just as an actor, but as a colleague who brought light and laughter to every set.
