WASA activates Muharram rescue plan
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has approved and implemented a "Rescue Plan" for the 8th to 10th of Muharramul Haram to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply across Rawalpindi city, immediate drainage of rainwater along mourning procession routes in case of rainfall, and prevention of water accumulation around Imambargahs.
Under this plan, five major relief camps and nine rescue points have been established near the routes of mourning processions and Imambargahs.
Each site will be equipped with water suction vehicles and motor pumps for swift drainage operations. Every rescue point will have one vehicle, two drivers, and one helper.
In addition, five field staff members will be stationed at each point, working in shifts around the clock on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram.
Five main relief camps have been set up at Jamia Masjid Road near Qadeem Imambargah, Fawara Chowk (main procession point), Committee Chowk.
