UK-bound woman caught with heroin

ANF and other relevant agencies quickly arrived at the scene

A UK citizen of Pakistani origin from Sargodha has been arrested at the New Islamabad International Airport for carrying narcotics in her luggage.

According to sources, Mehwish Jabeen, a UK citizen of Pakistani origin from Sargodha, arrived at the airport to travel on a private airline flight bound for the UK. A sub-inspector-level official from a government department was present at the airport to provide her protocol.

At the departure lounge, her luggage passed the first baggage screening counter operated by the Airport Security Force (ASF), where she was cleared, said the sources, adding that after completing the boarding process, she proceeded to the second and final screening counter. There, the scanning machine flagged her shoes as suspicious. Following the physical inspection, more than one kilogramme of high-quality heroin was found hidden in the soles of the shoes.

The recovery of drugs from luggage that had already cleared ASF's initial screening caused panic at the airport. Officials from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other relevant agencies quickly arrived at the scene. The woman was taken into custody.
