LAHORE:

In an ongoing series of alleged encounters, three under-custody suspects were killed purportedly because of gunfire from their accomplices during operations carried out in Lahore by the Crime Control Department (CCD).

According to a CCD spokesperson, one encounter took place in the Civil Lines area, where police were escorting two suspects, Abid and Dilawar, for recovery of stolen items and identification of the crime scenes related to a string of robbery cases. During the operation, unidentified gunmen opened fire in an attempt to free the suspects.

In the ensuing crossfire, both Abid and Dilawar were fatally shot, allegedly by bullets fired by their accomplices.

The police said both the deceased were repeat offenders with prior criminal record.

The second incident took place in the North Cantonment area, where CCD personnel were conducting a similar operation.

A suspect identified as 26-year-old Hassan was shot and killed allegedly when his accomplices ambushed the police team.
