Netflix cancels ‘Pulse’ and ‘The Residence’, ‘No Good Deed’ paused indefinitely

Netflix has cancelled two of its recent series, Pulse and The Residence, while placing No Good Deed on indefinite pause following underwhelming ratings.

Pulse, created by Zoe Robyn, was Netflix’s take on a medical procedural, starring Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell. The series struggled to find an audience, impacted by launching alongside competing medical dramas and by its challenging theme of workplace sexual harassment. The cast and creatives were informed over a month ago, with actors now pursuing new roles.

The Residence, a comedic murder mystery from Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, has also been cancelled. Starring Uzo Aduba and featuring Giancarlo Esposito, Randall Park and Susan Kelechi Watson, the series faced tough timing, premiering shortly after Netflix’s Adolescence captured global attention. Despite strong viewership peaking at No. 2 in Netflix’s Top 10 with 8.8 million views, high production costs, including extensive White House set builds and VFX, made a renewal unfeasible.

Meanwhile, No Good Deed, created by Liz Feldman, remains on indefinite pause. Conceived as an anthology series in the vein of The White Lotus, it featured O-T Fagbenle and Teyonah Parris and spent four weeks in the Top 10, peaking at 6 million views. 

Although the first season concluded with a potential storyline for a second instalment, the lukewarm reception has paused renewal discussions, though the possibility of a new concept for continuation remains open.

These decisions follow a series of Netflix renewals this year, including Bridgerton and The Diplomat, reflecting the platform’s continued content reshaping in 2025.
