SBBA denounces PBF's discriminatory attitude
The Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA) has announced that its four-year term elections will be held on July 19 at a local hotel. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by SBBA President Abid Iftikhar Malhi and attended by representatives from across the province.
Acting Secretary Tariq Hussain stated that the elections will be supervised by Salim Khimshani, a well-known figure in Pakistan's sports community, along with Khurshid Alam and Dilawar Abbas Khan. Official letters have been sent to the Sindh Sports Board, SOA, and the Commissioner's Office, inviting their presence and participation in the electoral process.
Tariq Hussain particularly appealed to the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) to uphold fairness and justice in the conduct of the elections. Meanwhile, the Association unanimously passed a resolution expressing deep regret over the Pakistan Basketball Federation's (PBF) discriminatory behavior toward Sindh. The resolution noted that in the past ten years, the PBF has failed to organize a single event in Sindh independently, concentrating all activities in just one province.
Even coaching camps and international tours were restricted to players from a single province, excluding other federating units - especially Sindh, which houses Karachi, the city with the highest basketball activity in the country.
The SBBA condemned this biased approach, stating that it reflects an alarming disregard for inclusivity and provincial representation. "It is now evident," the resolution stated, "that PBF has erased Sindh from its agenda - but in the times to come, the Federation will realize that its dominance is on the decline."
