KARACHI:

The Karachi Transport Ittehad has demanded that the government roll back the recent increase in petroleum product prices.

According to a spokesperson, an emergency meeting of the Karachi Transport Ittehad was held under the chairmanship of the patron-in-chief Mehmood Afridi and President Haji Muhammad Tawab Khan. During the meeting, concern was expressed over the repeated hikes in petrol and diesel prices within a month. An appeal was made to the federal government to reduce petroleum prices, as the rise is causing great concern not only among transporters but also among the general public.

Leaders of the Karachi Transport Ittehad said that while global oil prices have decreased, the government's decision to raise prices is beyond comprehension. They added that transporters are already facing severe difficulties due to a lack of basic facilities. Therefore, they demanded an immediate reduction in fuel prices, warning that if their demand is not met, they may take any necessary action for which the government will be held fully responsible.
