PML-N tightens grip on PA
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) edge over other parties in Punjab Assembly has increased with the number its MPAs rising to 229 after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the notification of 23 members on seats reserved for women in accordance an order of the Supreme Court.
According to the ECP notification issued on Wednesday, 27 seats were allotted to four political parties in the Punjab Assembly.
Of them, the PML-N gained 23 reserved seats, including two of minorities.
One seat each of women and minorities were allotted to the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP), a women's seat to the PML and one to Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
Before the development, the PML-N had 206 seats and then figure rose to 229 after the notification, including 165 general, 57 women's and seven reserved for minorities.
The PPPP's seats have increased from 14 to 16, including four of women and one of minorities.
