Two robbers killed by 'accomplices'
Two members of a gang of robbers were killed allegedly by their accomplices' gunfire during a police encounter near the Pattoki Bypass.
Police teams said a team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) had set up a checkpoint to intercept the robbers who had looted homes and farmhouses in several districts, including Kasur and Lahore.
According to the police, the deceased suspects identified as Manzoor alias Jhori from Phoolnagar and Allah Ditta from Chung in Lahore were involved in over 50 criminal cases.
A few days earlier, the gang had committed back-to-back robberies at two homes in Baghiana Kalan and Chah Dhabanwala areas of Phoolnagar.
During an attempted robbery at Pattoki Bypass, the CCD team confronted the gang. In the crossfire that followed, two of the suspects were fatally hit by bullets fired by their group. Their accomplices managed to flee the scene.
A case has been registered and the police have formed a team to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
