Cloudy skies, drizzle expected in Karachi

Maximum temperature in metropolis today likely to reach 32°C

After two consecutive days of rainfall, Karachi remains under partly cloudy skies today with light rain likely, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The weather system that brought over 58 millimeters of rain to the city has weakened, reducing the intensity of rainfall expected. Light showers are forecast today, while drizzle may continue into tomorrow.

Meteorologists anticipate partly to fully cloudy skies over the coming days due to the lingering impact of the system.

Humidity levels are projected to range between 65% and 85%, causing temperatures to feel 6°C to 8°C warmer than the actual readings.

Karachi’s maximum temperature today is expected to reach 32°C, up from yesterday’s recorded high of 30°C.

In the last 24 hours, Surjani Town saw the highest rainfall at 58.2mm, followed by Saadi Town (47.5mm), Gulshan-e-Maymar (37.4mm), and Gulshan-e-Hadeed (37mm).

Heavy monsoon rains caused urban flooding across Karachi on Saturday, inundating low-lying areas and paralysing traffic across the city.

Inner-city localities such as Liaquatabad, North Karachi, Orangi Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal faced severe waterlogging.

Overflowing drains near Iqbal Plaza in North Karachi and Defence Morr worsened conditions, while open manholes and sewage spills raised sanitation concerns.
