David Beckham is back home and recovering well after undergoing wrist surgery to fix a decades-old injury. The football legend, 50, had the operation after doctors discovered a screw from a previous procedure hadn’t dissolved properly, embedding itself in his forearm. The original injury occurred over 20 years ago during a friendly match for England against South Africa.
Although he had lived with discomfort for years, the pain recently worsened, prompting a scan that revealed the issue. He finally had surgery to remove the troublesome screw, and things went smoothly. A source shared that Victoria Beckham was by his side during recovery and that David is ‘in great spirits.’
The former footballer appears to be taking it easy while healing but hasn’t lost his sense of humour. Victoria posted a video of David proudly admiring freshly picked cucumbers from their garden, with his arm in a sling. She captioned the video, “Over performing on the cucumber front Sir David,” giving fans a light-hearted glimpse into his recovery.
Despite the injury, David recently celebrated a huge personal milestone. Earlier this month, he was officially knighted in King Charles’ Birthday Honours for his contributions to sport and charity. He called the recognition ‘truly humbling’ reflecting on his East London roots and the pride his family felt.
“For a boy from Leytonstone, playing for and captaining my country was the greatest honour,” Beckham shared in a statement.
David and Victoria, who share four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, seem to be handling the recovery period with positivity and support. And with a thriving veggie patch to tend to, Sir David is certainly keeping busy.
