In a crackdown on the sale of substandard meat, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) destroyed 1,800 kilogrammes of diseased poultry during an early morning raid at Tollinton Market, officials said on Thursday.

A total of 74,000kg of chicken were examined during the raid. Veterinary specialists confirmed that the seized birds were suffering from respiratory infections, low body weight and various other illnesses.
