Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges has reached a critical juncture as prosecutors dropped several allegations, including attempted kidnapping, attempted arson, and aiding sex trafficking.
The move, announced on June 25, 2025, comes just ahead of closing arguments, which are scheduled for June 26 in a New York federal court.
The prosecution will now focus on the remaining charges: sex trafficking, racketeering, and facilitating prostitution across state lines. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to all counts and remains in jail without bail since his arrest in September 2023.
Combs has opted not to testify. When asked in court, he said he had “thoroughly” discussed the decision with his legal team and confirmed it was “solely my decision.” His defense team also chose not to call witnesses, relying instead on cross-examinations and sexually explicit text messages to argue that the alleged acts were consensual.
The prosecution presented 34 witnesses over six weeks, including Combs’ former romantic partners—Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman referred to as “Jane.” Both described feeling coerced into explicit acts, some of which were reportedly filmed by Combs.
More than 40 minutes of video footage were played in court. Prosecutors claim the videos support the coercion claims, while the defense says they show consensual behavior.
If convicted of the remaining charges, Combs could face decades in prison. A verdict is expected shortly after closing arguments.
