HYDERABAD:

Wife of the famous Sindh poet Dr Akash Ansari who was allegedly killed by his adopted son on February 15 has filed a plea for bail of the accused.

Haleema Ansari in her plea before the trial court in Hyderabad maintained that she being the wife of the slain poet had no objection to the bail of Shah Lateef Ansari.

According to her, Lateef had been falsely implicated in the murder case by some relatives who took advantage of differences between the father and the son. Ansari, who was 70 years old, was brutally stabbed to death at his residence in Citizen Colony in Hyderabad and his body was set on fire after his death. Lateef had sustained minor burns injuries in the fire incident. He had claimed that he tried to break open his father's room which was engulfed by fire.

The police investigation later revealed that the poet had died due to multiple stab wounds and that the body was burnt later. The police had also claimed that Lateef had confessed to killing Ansari and then setting his room ablaze during initial interrogation.
