University status: ‘Upgrade Government College Jhang’
International Seraiki Council demand the Punjab government to upgrade Government Degree College Jhang to a university

Members and supporters of International Seraiki Council on Sunday passed a joint resolution demanding the Punjab government to upgrade Government Degree College Jhang to a university, as previously done with other colleges in different areas of Punjab. A meeting of the council was held in its regional office in sector I-8 here. Addressing the gathering, the president of English and local chapters of the council, Syed Khizer Abbas Gillani said that the people of Seraiki waseb will no longer tolerate the economic and social injustice. “There should be equal distribution of resources,” he added. Pointing to the statistics showing 43 per cent of population in Seraiki region living below poverty line, Gillani said poverty and the lack of higher education institutions in the region was pushing the youth towards extremism and terrorism.
