Recognition: Pakistani engineer shines globally

Ahmed is the first Pakistani to receive the SPE Regional Service Award.

Mujhahid Nazir Ahmed, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), is the first Pakistani engineer to be selected for the SPE Regional Service Award from Middle East, North Africa and India. The award will be presented to him at the SPE Middle East Regional Awards Gala on October 9 in Abu Dhabi, said a press release.

The award recognises those members who contribute towards exceptional service with the SPE.

Ahmed has been a member of SPE for the past 14 years, where he has been working to ensure that the academia personnel are apprised of new technology development by attending the SPE-PAPG annual technical conferences.


He has demonstrated exceptional contributions at Pakistan section level since 2006 and has been striving hard to develop and enhance the relationships between the universities and industries, which is strongly needed in today’s modern world.

Ahmed holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore. He joined the BP Pakistan Exploration and Production Inc. as a trainee in 1997 and has over 14 years of diversified experience in oil and gas handling, field operations, production loss management, operations excellence, field production engineering and petroleum engineering. He is currently working as a senior production engineer with BHP Petroleum (Pakistan) Private Limited.
