RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Teachers Union, along with other educator's bodies and the Rawalpindi All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), have unanimously rejected the recently announced Punjab budget, declaring it anti-worker and unliveable.

The unions have announced a series of protests and a potential strike in response.

Speaking to the media, APCA Central Vice President Shehzad Manzoor Kiyani, Divisional President Chaudhry Mubashir and Mirza Tauqeer strongly criticised the 10 per cent salary increase for government employees, calling it "a cruel joke."

They warned that the wave of inflation triggered by both federal and provincial budgets would extinguish the stoves in government employees' homes.
