Two rescue officials die in road crash

A traffic accident on the GT Road Eastern Bypass in Chichawatni resulted in the death of two Rescue 1122 personnel and injuries to eight others.

A passenger van rear-ended a motorcycle, killing both riders, identified as Muhammad Wajid and Raja Amir, on the spot. Both victims were Rescue 1122 officials returning to Chichawatni after completing duty in Sahiwal.

According to rescue sources, eight passengers of the van were injured. They were identified as Muhammad Sarfraz, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Shahid, Yaseen, Sarfraz Ahmed, Zahid Ali, Naveed and Ashraf Ali.

Rescue 1122 teams shifted the deceased and injured to the Chichawatni Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Chichawatni Saddar police reached the scene and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
