PR hikes fares after fuel price surge

Following the hike in petroleum product prices, Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in fares for both passenger and freight trains.

According to an official notification issued by Pakistan Railways, passenger train fares have been increased by 3%, while charges for freight wagons have gone up by 4%.

The revised fares for passenger trains will come into effect from June 20, while the updated freight rates will be implemented starting June 23.

The fare hike comes amid rising operational costs and is part of Pakistan Railways' effort to manage expenditures in the face of increasing fuel prices.
