New information has surfaced about the final hours of celebrity chef Anne Burrell, who was found dead at her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17, 2025. She was 55.
According to the NYPD, officers responded to a call around 7:50 a.m. and discovered a woman matching Burrell’s description “unconscious and unresponsive.” She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. A cause of death has not yet been determined, pending an autopsy by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
The night before her death, Burrell reportedly spent time doing improv with close friends — a testament to her lively spirit and love for creativity. Those close to her say she seemed happy and energetic.
Her representatives confirmed the Food Network star’s death and released a statement on behalf of her family. “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend. Her warmth, humor, and love touched everyone around her,” the family said.
Burrell rose to fame with appearances on Iron Chef America, Worst Cooks in America, Chopped, and Chef Wanted. She was most recently seen on the cooking competition House of Knives in early 2025.
Beyond her television success, she authored two cookbooks — including Cook Like a Rock Star, a New York Times bestseller — and inspired millions through her culinary work.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, his son Javier, her mother, Marlene, her sister, Jane, her brother Ben, and children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas.
As fans mourn her sudden passing, many remember the joy she brought to kitchens and screens around the world.
