Man caught with weapon inside court

The accused was reportedly acting on personal enimity

LAHORE:

Islampura police foiled a murder attempt at the Lahore Sessions Court, arresting three suspects including an armed man who entered the premises with the intent to kill his rivals.

SP City Bilal Ahmad said security personnel stationed at the court apprehended the suspect, identified as Shakir, before he could carry out the attack.

The accused was reportedly acting on personal enimity and had planned the hit with accomplices during an ongoing court hearing.

"The suspect wanted to cause harm to his rivals inside the court premises based on longstanding grudges. The plan was well-coordinated and could have led to serious bloodshed," said SP Bilal Ahmad, adding that Shakir had been given a weapon by the complainant in a murder case.

Following Shakir's arrest, he confessed to the plot during police interrogation and revealed the involvement of other individuals, including the mastermind behind the plan. Acting on the information, DSP Hafiz Obaidullah and SHO Islampura led raids to apprehend additional suspects.

Police later confirmed the arrest of mastermind Qaisar, Shakir, and Maqsood Nazir. The suspects were reportedly involved in ongoing personal and legal disputes, including previous murder cases.
