Pirates of the Caribbean franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently shared an update on the highly anticipated sixth installment, revealing that some familiar faces will return, but the movie will take a "new take" on the beloved franchise.

The long-awaited sequel has been in the works since the release of Dead Men Tell No Tales, though the project hit a setback after Johnny Depp's departure due to his defamation trial against Amber Heard. Depp, who portrayed the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow, previously expressed no desire to reprise his role, leaving fans wondering about the future of the series.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan for F1, scheduled to release on June 27, Bruckheimer discussed the current status of the film, confirming that the script is still being developed.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan, Bruckheimer gave insight into the film’s current status and its direction:

“We’re working on a screenplay. Hopefully we’ll get it right — and then we’ll make it. We really want to make it, that’s for sure,” Bruckheimer said, emphasizing the team’s dedication to getting the script right before moving forward.

When asked if the upcoming film would be a continuation of previous stories or something entirely new, he responded, “It’ll be a new take on it.”

On the subject of casting, Bruckheimer confirmed, “Well, not all new actors. We’ll have some back,” hinting at the return of some familiar characters. However, when pressed on which characters would be rejoining the cast, he remained tight-lipped, adding, “I’m not going to tell you which ones — you’ll have to guess.”

With the script still in development, Bruckheimer’s comments suggest that the next Pirates of the Caribbean film will feature a blend of fresh perspectives while still staying rooted in the legacy of the franchise.

With the last release taking place more than 7 years ago, and our beloved Jack Sparrow facing a malicious legal battle in between and even more coming victorious out of it,somehow makes the next installment even more anticipated with his return.
