Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has officially scored her second Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single with her latest release, “Manchild.”
The track debuted atop the chart on Monday, marking another major milestone in Carpenter’s rapidly rising music career.
“Manchild” is the lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, and follows her breakout hit “Please Please Please,” which also topped the Hot 100 in June 2024. According to Billboard, “Manchild” debuted with 27.1 million streams and 20,000 units sold in its first week.
Carpenter dethroned Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” after its two-week run at No. 1. With this early success, “Manchild” is already being considered a strong contender for 2025’s song of the summer, following the viral success of her 2024 smash hit, “Espresso.”
The track’s release also arrives amid online buzz surrounding the provocative album artwork for Man’s Best Friend and Carpenter’s recent Rolling Stone cover, where she addressed criticism over her sexualized image. “It’s always funny to me when people complain,” she told the magazine. “You’re the ones who made these songs popular.”
Elsewhere on the chart, Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae’s “What I Want” dropped to No. 3, while Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s former chart-topper “Luther” held at No. 5.
On the Billboard 200, Wallen’s I’m The Problem remained at No. 1, edging out Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI debut. K-pop group Enhyphen and TikTok star Addison rounded out the Top 5 with strong debuts.
