Okanwala Bangla police on Wednesday arrested a suspected robber who had been injured in an encounter, while his accomplice escapes.
A spokesman said the police had received got information that two armed men had robbed Ghulam Abbas, a resident of village 157/9L of his motorcycle, cash and mobile phone.
The police chased the robbers but they opened fire on the personnel in the Kameer area. In retaliatory firing, one of the suspects, identified as Shehbaz Jani, was injured, while the other managed to escape.
The police recovered the motorcycle, cash, phone and illegal weapons from the possession of the injured suspect, the spokesman said. He said a search operation had been launched to arrest the other suspect.
