LAHORE:

The city police have claimed a 69 per cent reduction in major crimes over the past two years, with official data indicating a decline in robberies, kidnappings and vehicle thefts.

Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran announced while releasing the comparative crime statistics for May 2023-25 that the number total reported crimes had plummeted from 6,836 in May 2023 to 2,136 last month.

The most striking improvements included robberies down by 83% from 1,305 to 357, motorcycle theft by 61%, and car snatching and dacoity eliminated.

"This is a validation of our data-driven policing model," DIG Kamran said, crediting the success to visible policing, technological integration and a crackdown on organised crimes.
