RAWALPINDI:

The City Police Station has recovered over 9,600 books worth millions of rupees, which were stolen from the District Education Officer Literacy's office store at the beginning of this month. The books, which had been printed by the Punjab government for students, were meant to be distributed to primary school students in various schools.

In a raid, two suspects were arrested, and the stolen books were recovered.

The theft had sent shockwaves through the Rawalpindi Department of Education. Further arrests of education officials are expected soon. The police are in the process of seeking permission from the deputy commissioner to arrest the education officers and staff allegedly involved in the theft.

The stolen books were valued at millions of rupees and had been printed for students by the Punjab government.

After initial denial of the theft, the Education Department has now officially confirmed the crime.

The arrested suspects have made revelations, implicating several education officers and staff in the theft.

After their arrest, a five-day physical remand was granted for the suspects, and an investigation has been initiated.

Police have assured that further arrests of Education Department officials and staff will follow. Upon receiving information about the theft, the Chief Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani took immediate notice and ordered the recovery of the stolen books and the arrest of those involved.

The City Police Station, using technical resources and human intelligence, was able to arrest the suspects and recover all the stolen books.
