Hasan Ali’s five-wicket haul and explosive middle-order contributions helped Pakistan defeat Bangladesh by 37 runs in the first T20I on Wednesday at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The hosts now lead the three-match series 1-0.
Chasing a target of 202, Bangladesh suffered an early setback when Parvez Hossain Emon was dismissed by Hasan Ali after scoring just four runs.

Tanzid Hasan and skipper Litton Das put on 37 in quick time, but Hasan struck again to remove Tanzid for 31 off 17. Das anchored the innings with 48, stitching a 63-run stand with Towhid Hridoy to take Bangladesh to 100 in the 12th over — well in the game at that stage but Pakistan’s spinners shifted the momentum decisively.

Rishad Hossain and Jaker Ali took the score to 124 before Shadab struck again, taking a return catch off Rishad’s bat. Jaker tried to rally the innings with a well-made 36, but once Hasan Ali came to rescue, dismissed Jaker at 148.
With Jaker Ali’s dismissal, the writing was on the wall as Bangladesh’s tail offered little resistance and the visitors were bowled out for 164.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan unveiled a new-look XI with six changes from the side that faced New Zealand in March, bringing in Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Khushdil Shah, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, and Abrar Ahmed.
The hosts were in early trouble after losing both openers, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, within the first two overs, slumping to 5/2.

However, captain Agha and Mohammad Haris counterattacked, defying Pakistan’s typical approach of cautious consolidation. The duo built a rapid 48-run partnership off just 31 deliveries, taking the pressure off.

He smashed a gutsy 44 off just 22 deliveries, including four sixes, before offering a straightforward catch back to Rishad Hossain. Meanwhile, Shoriful Islam ended Khushdil Shah’s struggling knock of 5.

At 150 for 6 in 16.1 overs, Pakistan’s innings looked to be faltering. But Shadab stepped up, playing a valuable knock of 48 off just 25 balls, including two sixes, helping Pakistan reach a competitive total.
Pakistan ended their innings at 201 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs, with Faheem Ashraf remaining not out on 11.
