RAWALPINDI:

A brief tense exchange took place between PTI founder Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khanum and former party MNA Kanwal Shauzab on Saturday at the Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court (ATC), following the circulation of a video in which Shauzab was seen criticising Aleema.

The confrontation took place as Shauzab approached Aleema, saying she wanted to talk to her.

In response, Aleema said, "Just leave it. What you said was right. Many other people speak against us. We are now used to such accusations".

Shauzab reiterated that she wished to speak to her about it, prompting Aleema to respond: "I am not angry with you, [now] go."

Shauzab said a specific part of an old video was used against her.

Aleema, however, pointed out that members of PML-N and other parties had also spoken against her in the past. She then walked away, appearing to dismiss the conversation.

In the recently surfaced clip, Shauzab can allegedly be heard criticising Aleema for "disrespecting party office-holders and interim chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan", further saying that Imran's sister "should not dent the party".

The former MNA allegedly added that she would personally confront Aleema over the matter.

In a separate development, the court rejected a petition filed by Aleema seeking an exemption from court appearances to allow her to travel abroad. The application was dismissed by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

Speaking to the media outside the courtroom, Aleema said she had been appearing in courts consistently for the past week due to what she described as "newer and newer cases", which she alleged were being filed to hinder her ability to travel.
