Final Destination: Bloodlines breaks franchise record with $43M opening weekend

Warner Bros. continues its dominance at the box office with Final Destination: Bloodlines opening at an impressive $43 million across 3,523 theaters, marking the best debut in franchise history.

The film earned $20 million on Friday alone, including $5.5 million from Thursday previews, surpassing expectations and edging out previous entries in the Final Destination series.

Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, and written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, Bloodlines boasts strong fan support with a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film becomes the fourth No. 1 opener this year for Warner Bros, following Mickey 17, Minecraft, and Sinners.

Speaking of Sinners, the vampire thriller remains resilient, earning $15 million in its fifth weekend, down just 32%. Its total domestic haul is projected to reach $240.3 million by Sunday, outperforming historical R-rated horror benchmarks like The Blair Witch Project.

In second place is Disney/Marvel’s Thunderbolts* with $16 million in its third weekend, bringing its cumulative total to $154.8 million.

Meanwhile, Hurry Up Tomorrow, starring The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega, opens with a modest $3.3M–$4.7M after a weak $2.5M Friday and lukewarm audience response. Despite the soft opening, it coincides with The Weeknd’s massive $400M tour and a new album drop.

Rounding out the top five is A Minecraft Movie with a steady $5.6 million in its seventh weekend, pushing its total to $416.3 million.

As horror continues to thrive, Warner Bros solidifies its box office dominance, with Bloodlines and Sinners leading a strong May lineup.
