Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir praised the role of the Pakistani media during the recent Pakistan-India conflict, calling it a source of pride and describing the media’s response to Indian outlets as memorable, Express News reported.
Speaking informally to journalists at an event held in Islamabad to mark Youm-e-Tashakur (the Day of Gratitude), COAS Munir said that the media had been a matter of pride for the nation, highlighting that nothing was hidden and the complete truth was shared with the public.
He lauded the media’s outstanding role throughout the conflict, saying that the way Pakistani media responded to Indian media was remarkable and responsible, and expressed pride in their performance.
Celebrating the succes of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq, General Munir further stated that the entire nation stood united in confronting the enemy.
During the conflict, several Indian media outlets, fueled by war-driven rhetoric, broadcast unverified and false claims.
These included allegations of an Indian attack that destroyed Karachi Port, plans to capture Islamabad, and claims that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would surrender — all propagated by well-known Indian media outlets and reputable journalists but eventually proven false.
In contrast, Pakistani media remained calm and showed restraint, relying primarily on information from the Inter-Services Public Relations and the information department while broadcasting.
