Broken sewer lines spread illnesses
Sewerage lines outside a private hotel close to the Rawalpindi Cantonment have severely deteriorated, leading to the spread of illnesses in the surrounding area.
Abbasi Hotel, located on Haider Road and operating for several years, has been the source of serious sanitation issues due to the negligence and inattention of its management. The sewer lines outside the hotel, in the lane adjacent to Ramzan Plaza, are completely broken, resulting in the flow of dirty water into nearby streets.
Residents have reported an increase in skin allergies and respiratory illnesses as a result. The wastewater even flows onto Haider Road, worsening the public health risk.
Senior Advocate Nadeem Khan says he has repeatedly raised the issue with the hotel management, but has received no satisfactory response.
He praised recent multi-billion-rupee development projects that have transformed the Rawalpindi Cantonment into one of Pakistan's most beautiful cantonments, crediting the CEO of the Cantonment Board for the progress. However, he urged authorities to address this specific sanitation issue, stating that the foul odor and filth from the hotel have affected the entire neighborhood.
An RCB spokesperson says special measures will be taken to clean and improve sanitation in the affected street.
