Okara police claim decline in crime rate
The number of people killed over enmity and fights across the district has decreased by 16 per cent as compared to the first four months of last year.
District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat stated that compared to 2024, various types of crimes saw a significant drop since the start of 2025, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, theft, motorcycle and vehicle snatching or theft.
According to official data, in the period during 2024, a total of 32 people were murdered within the three tehsils, five circles, and 19 police station jurisdictions of the district.
The period also witnessed 61 alleged police encounters in which 31 robbers were killed and 62 were wounded and arrested on the spot.
So far in 2025, police encounters have decreased to 26, resulting in 17 robbers killed and 14 injured. Murders dropped to 27, reflecting a 16% reduction.
