Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Pakistan, expressing satisfaction over the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
Addressing a cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan described the agreement as a positive step towards regional stability and emphasised Turkey’s full backing for the peace initiative.
Erdoğan condemned recent terrorist attacks in Kashmir and missile strikes on Pakistani territory, underlining Turkey’s continued diplomatic efforts to help de-escalate tensions between the two South Asian neighbours.
The Turkish leader praised the resilience and patience of the Pakistani people, crediting the country’s leadership for its measured and strategic response during a challenging period.
He also confirmed a recent telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders discussed key bilateral and regional issues.
In his remarks, President Erdoğan urged Pakistan to avoid provocations and to capitalise on the calm brought about by the ceasefire to address long-standing disputes, including the water issue.
He concluded with a strong message of solidarity, assuring Islamabad that Turkey would, God willing, stand by Pakistan in both good times and bad.
