As part of the broader Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, Pakistan has launched a sweeping cyber offensive targeting critical Indian digital infrastructure, according to security sources.
Numerous high-profile Indian websites have been compromised, including the official website of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), security sources confirmed.
Other affected platforms include the Crime Research Investigation Agency, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, Bharat Earth Movers Limited, and the All India Naval Technical Supervisory Staff Association, with their entire content reportedly wiped out, they added.
In addition, significant data breaches have been reported from institutions such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, the Border Security Force (BSF), and the Unique Identification Authority of India.
According to security sources, leaked data also includes files from the Indian Air Force, Maharashtra Election Commission, and several other regional bodies.
Security sources further revealed that more than 2,500 surveillance cameras across India have been hacked, severely disrupting real-time monitoring and operational security across various zones.
In a separate attack, Pakistan’s cyber team reportedly hacked the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, disabling large portions of the state’s power infrastructure, security sources said.
The breach resulted in widespread electricity outages, and all commercial and domestic meter records were erased, effectively paralysing power services, they added.
Secuity officials called the cyber operation a strategic digital front of Pakistan's broader response, aimed at neutralising both the technological and military capabilities of the adversary.
