Jaranwala ramps up emergency preparedness

While routine life across the city and the rest of Punjab remained largely unaffected by recent Indian strikes, the district administration has ramped up its emergency preparedness in response to the escalating national security situation.
A comprehensive contingency plan has been activated, which includes the establishment of a Control, Command and Response Centre (CC&RC), convening of District Implementation and Advisory Committee meetings, and the updating of 22 war contingency schemes.
Authorities have also reactivated early warning systems, conducted mock exercises and evacuation drills, and initiated training sessions for emergency response teams.
In addition to these security measures, special security arrangements have been made at sensitive locations, and public health institutions are on high alert to deal with any potential crisis.
Public engagement efforts have also intensified, with seminars and solidarity walks organized to support the armed forces.
Media and stakeholder engagement campaigns are underway to raise public awareness and counter misinformation. A toll-free landline facility has also been launched to enhance civil defense readiness.
Under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, practical drills are being conducted across the province, including in Faisalabad, to prepare for emergency scenarios.
One such mock drill was recently conducted at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, where Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd.) Nadeem Nasir personally supervised the proceedings.
The exercise brought together key emergency response entities including Rescue 1122, the health department, civil defence, police and other agencies.
The objective was to evaluate their coordination, response mechanisms, and operational effectiveness during a crisis.
During the exercise, Deputy Commissioner Nasir led patriotic chants and reiterated the government's commitment to protecting public lives and property.
He emphasised that these drills would continue to ensure a swift and coordinated response in the event of any unforeseen situation.
A control room has also been established by the district administration to provide the public with verified updates.
Citizens were urged to remain calm and refrain from paying attention to rumours amid the current geopolitical tension.
"The safety and resilience of our people is our foremost priority," stated DC Nadeem Nasir. "We are fully prepared and will continue to enhance our response capabilities."
