WASHINGTON: Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane became Major League Soccer’s (MLS) fourth-highest paid player when he signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy in August. Keane, 31, has a base salary this year of just under $3 million, according to figures released by the MLS Players Union. Galaxy teammate David Beckham, the former England captain, is the highest paid player in the league, followed by New York Red Bull teammates Thierry Henry of France and Rafa Marquez of Mexico. Galaxy’s Landon Donovan comes in at fifth place, being the only home-grown US player in the top five.
