Police, hospitals put on high alert

As tensions spiraled out of control following India's missiles attacks on civilian infrastructures in Pakistan, the Sindh government has moved to tighten security and emergency response measures across the province. Police and health institutions have been placed on high alert, with all leaves of officials, law enforcers, and medical staff cancelled with immediate effect to ensure maximum preparedness.

Provincial police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon issued a province-wide directive barring all officers and personnel from taking leave - except for maternity or serious medical reasons - citing the worsening law and order situation. Officers have been ordered to remain at their stations and follow government directives to maintain stability. Meanwhile, a high-level meeting chaired by AIG Karachi Javed Alam Odho at the Karachi Police Office reviewed the security situation in the city. Orders were issued for enhanced surveillance of key areas, including markets, bazaars, and public spaces, alongside increased patrolling and monitoring of government and private installations. All police personnel have been directed to remain on standby.

Meanwhile, a state of emergency has been declared in all government and district health centres under the federal and Sindh governments. All district, taluka and teaching hospital heads in the province have been directed to remain on high alert, while their administrations have been asked to cancel the leaves of all staff and ensure their attendance. Sindh's ambulance service 1222 has also been put on high alert.
