GUJRANWALA:

Two loud explosions were heard on Thursday morning, after which the air defence system deployed in Gujranwala Cantonment became active and successfully shot down an Indian drone attempting to violate Pakistani airspace.

According to military sources, the drone was flying at a very high altitude when it attempted to intrude into Pakistan’s territory.

The air defence system in Gujranwala Cantonment responded swiftly, engaging the drone and bringing it down.

Sources stated that as the drone entered the city’s airspace, the air defence installation in the cantonment area reacted immediately, launching two successful rounds of fire that neutralised the threat. The action took place close to the Gujranwala Cantonment perimeter.

The drone was reportedly heading towards Gujranwala at high altitude when it was intercepted. The debris from the downed drone later fell near the village of Dinga in Gujrat district.

Police sources confirmed that after receiving reports of wreckage, law enforcement agencies, including police, reached the area and secured the remains of the drone from the fields of Pir Jhanda village.

The wreckage has been taken into custody for forensic examination to determine the drone’s model and origin.

Fortunately, no casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure have been reported.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the nature of the drone and the intent behind the airspace violation.
