Rihanna provided a rare update on her long-anticipated album R9 while walking the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala in New York City.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the singer was asked whether her third pregnancy would delay the project. She responded, “No, maybe a couple of videos, but I can sing,” confirming that new music is still on the way.
The singer and entrepreneur arrived late to the Met Gala, staying true to her tradition of making a statement. Wearing a custom grey corset and black skirt ensemble by Marc Jacobs, Rihanna showcased her baby bump while aligning with this year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” and the exhibition theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

While A$AP Rocky, her partner and a co-chair of the event, arrived earlier in a custom AWGE outfit, the two made separate red carpet appearances.

Rihanna, however, quickly became one of the most talked-about stars of the night — not only for her look but for the update on her music career.
In the brief interview, she also shared how she’s managing the spotlight while expecting. “I’m shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment,” she said. “At first it was kind of like, I’m tired. But then, what a blessing. I’m excited.”
Fans have been awaiting news of R9 since her last album, Anti, released in 2016. While no official release date has been set, Rihanna’s assurance that she continues to record and possibly shoot videos signals progress.
