ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has opened the South Asian Artist Residency Program 2025 exhibition, showcasing works created by visiting artists from Nepal and the Maldives following their month-long cultural immersion across Pakistan.

The exhibition features a powerful collection of artworks inspired by the artists' journey through Pakistan's diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage—including historical Lahore, coastal Karachi, and the majestic northern region of Skardu.

Reflecting on their experiences, the artists expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity.

Bidhata KC shared, "One of the most wonderful experiences—Pakistan has always been a source of inspiration for me, especially through the richness of its artistic heritage.

There's a timeless beauty in its art that continues to move me deeply." Aishath Laisha Saud noted, "The exhibition went smoothly, and everyone present has been very kind.

I was nervous, but it's okay." Meanwhile, Mariyam Barsha Mohamed added, "It was my first residency, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to explore such a beautiful country and to showcase my work."

"Each piece represents not merely a visual record but a deeply personal interpretation of Pakistan's multifaceted identity—its historical grandeur, natural beauty, cultural vibrancy, and human warmth," shared the program coordinator and exhibition curator.

The exhibition was officially inaugurated today by a distinguished panel of dignitaries including, Ambassador of the Philippines Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan Rita Dhital, Head of Mission from the Maldives Aishath Yasmeen, Embassy of the People's Republic of China Cultural Counselor Chen Peng, Director, South Asia Shahnawaz, Ministry of Foreign Affairs M.
