PM Shehbaz invites UK to join neutral probe into Pahalgam incident

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has firmly rejected attempts by India to implicate Pakistan in the recent incident in Pahalgam, stating that no credible evidence has been presented to support the claims, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The PM reiterated his call for a transparent, credible, and neutral international investigation and extended an invitation to the United Kingdom to take part in the process.
During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House with British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, PM Shehbaz shared Pakistan’s viewpoint on the evolving regional situation following the Pahalgam episode.
He underscored Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and security, affirming that Pakistan would not engage in any activity that could destabilise South Asia.
Emphasising the importance of diplomacy and multilateral cooperation, the PM urged the UK—citing its strong bilateral ties with both Pakistan and India—to play a constructive role in easing regional tensions.
High Commissioner Marriott expressed appreciation for the PM’s openness in discussing Pakistan’s position and affirmed the UK’s intention to continue engaging with both South Asian nations to support regional peace and stability.
The meeting also touched on Pakistan’s economic priorities, with PM Shehbaz highlighting his government's focus on growth and development in collaboration with international partners.
