Adam Lowry's double-overtime heroics lead Winnipeg Jets into second round

Adam Lowry scored the winner in double overtime as the Winnipeg Jets stunned the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in Game 7 of their Western Conference First Round series on Sunday night, completing a dramatic comeback to advance to the second round.

Lowry tipped in a Neal Pionk point shot at 16:10 of the second overtime to cap a memorable night at Canada Life Centre, where Winnipeg overcame a two-goal deficit and scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation.

“It’s one of those things you dream of in the driveway,” Lowry said. “To do it at home, in front of our fans—it’s really special.”

Winnipeg’s rally began with Vladislav Namestnikov’s goal at 58:04, when his centring pass deflected off Ryan Suter and in. With just 2.2 seconds left, Cole Perfetti redirected Kyle Connor’s shot to tie the game 3-3.

Perfetti, who finished with two goals, also made NHL history by scoring the latest game-tying goal in a Game 7.

The Jets, who won the Presidents' Trophy this season, will face the Dallas Stars in the second round.

Jets coach Scott Arniel called it one of the most exciting games he’s ever witnessed. “Just hang in there—that’s all I kept preaching,” he said. “We were nervous early, but our resolve showed.”

Stephen Hellebuyck made 26 saves for Winnipeg, while Pionk and Connor each notched three assists.

The Blues had jumped to a 2-0 lead through Jordan Kyrou and Mathieu Joseph, and Radek Faksa added a third late in the second. But despite Jordan Binnington’s 43 saves, they couldn’t close out the series.

“Brutal,” Blues captain Brayden Schenn said. “Two six-on-five goals, a second and a half from winning. That stings.”

Coach Jim Montgomery praised his team’s late-season surge but admitted the loss “hurts” after holding a 3-1 lead with under two minutes remaining.

Josh Morrissey exited in the first period due to injury and did not return. Winnipeg were already without Mark Scheifele, missing his second straight game. Arniel said player updates would come following further evaluation.

Sunday’s result marked the sixth time in 30 years that the home team won every game in a best-of-seven series.
